Akira sighed, leaning into the hug. "No, don't apologize. It's my fault. You just...wouldn't understand...I'm older than you. But not in a good way." She shrugged. "Even if you were joking...you're right. Pirates were so long ago..." She turned around to face him. "How old do you think I am?" She asked, serious.

Sam looked down at Akira, "it is not your fault. Stop blaming yourself for everything, k" he said softly. "That doesn't matter Akira. I still love you." He assured her. He bit his lip when she asked how old he thought she was. "I've thought of you as seventeen" he said carefully. He didn't know how old his girlfriend was. That was bad xD. Sighing, he shrugged, "it doesn't matter k. I really don't care" He posed her closer and awaited her age. That's what he thought she was going to do anyway-tell him her age. But as Sam thought about it, there was a long list of things she could do other than telling him her true she. That including storming out of the submarine, which he really hoped didn't happen.

Akira bit her lip. "I'm......121." She looked down quickly, awaiting his reaction. Would he push her away? Would he make her leave the sub so he could return to the surface without her? Would he slap her? Or would he not care? She had no idea what he would do, but she hoped it was the last one. "Is that....bad?" She asked when he didn't reply at first. She knew it was a lot to take in but it was killing her to not know what he was thinking. She tried to lighten the situation. "Well. I can tell you a lot about the world in the past hundred years.." she laughed nervously. "Just ask anything...or say anything..." She looked out the window, biting her lip again. He thought she was only 17. How sweet of him. But of course he had no reason until now to think she was older.

Akira stopped rambling on when he said that he didn't care how old she was. She smiled. "Really? Aw. I love you too Sam!" She hugged him and gave him a kiss. "Do I still look young enough for my age? Or am I starting to look old?" She realized she hadn't look in a mirror in a long time.

Sam once again took her in his arms, "You're the most beautiful girl-person-mermaid- thing I've ever seen" he said, resting his cheek on the top of her head. He felt bad as soon as the words were out of his mouth. Thing it sounded like he was calling her some humanoid freak. He hadn't meant that-not at all- and really hoped Akira would overlook the fact that he had just called her a thing- on accident of course, but how did she know? Suddenly he was the nervous one. If she had been alive for 121 years, exactly how close had she been with Ash? How had she aged normally on the surface? She didn't look old to him, not at all. The only thing that coud have signaled her age, he realized, was how her eyes drooped the tiniest bits at the corners. Thinking of the surface, a flood of memories came back to him

14 year old Sam looked out of the window to the house across the street. There was a girl about his age moving in. Maybe he'd invite her to his birthday...No, that sounded lame. Two Days Later Sam walked up the steps to his house, vaugely aware of the girl on the grass on the other side of the street. 15. Awesome. He'd be driving next year. He glanced out of the window, then back at his remote control helicopter- which he had been putting batteries in-, then back outside in surprise. There were social services in the girls yard, apparently moving in with her. He wondered if she was an orphan and no one would adopt her. And maybe she could've stayed too long at the orphanage. Or she commited a crime and they needed someone professinal to determine if she was mentally healthy or not so they ordered one of their men to stay with her. His 15 year old mind kept thinking up crazy possiblities, until he was so curious he had to go over and meet the girl.

Sam walked across the street with his hands in his pockets. The girl smiled when she saw him. He did the same. "I'm Sam" he had said, and she answered by replying, "Akira. I'm new..."

Another memory cut that one off:

Sam walked down the street, holding Akira's hand. The street fair (or whatever, its 7:00 xD) was here. He was sharing some cotton candy with her, now his girlfriend. He was 17, turning 18 in a few days. He felt like Akira kind of expected him to propose to her but...he had to ask her to come on the trip. It would all be much more exciting underwater. They stopped to sit down at a bench and he gathered up his courage, making some excuse about a stupid 'Lost City'. (Sam right now winced abit as he saw the look on her face he had missed the first time) She accepted. He stuck his hand in his pocket, fiddling with the ring he had bought. It was nothing big but...he thought she'd like it. He put his arm around her and kissed her cheek

The memory ended there and he felt in his jeans pocket. It was still there. He wondered if he should propose to her now, just as he had wondered why there were social workers in her yard three years ago. He put his arm back around Akira, finally deciding he'd do it later...Maybe evenn in front of Ash- no, he couldn't do that. It would hurt Akira. All this happened in about a minute (The memories and everything) as he waited for her to say something...Hopefully not 'You just called me a thing!!!'

O___O LOL I'm like....in awe of how much you wrote :O Must make a good post now. That was an amazing post :D

Akira's eyes lowered a little when he called her a 'thing'. But she knew he just wasn't sure what to call her. As she watched him, she noticed him drifting of into another state of mind. Hellooooo Sam? Earth to Sam? Nope. He was daydreaming about something. She decided to let him finish whatever daydream it was. She knew how irritating it was to be interrupted during a daydream. As he daydreamed she also drifted off into a day dream. It was in the past....a memory of hers...

Akira had come up onto the shore with nothing more than a swimsuit on. She lay huddled on the sand, shivering, for what felt like hours until someone came and picked her up. She was on the edge of consciousness but she heard a voice tell her it was going to be okay. A few days later she was in an orphanage sitting in an office as two adults talked about her. One of them had found her laying on the beach, close to death, and had brought her to a hospital. They had made sure she was okay and then sent her here when she said she had no home. The guy who had saved her looked like a kind man. He told the other adult that he would foster her then possibly adopt her. Fast forward to her moving into a new house with her foster father. He had decided to find a nice new house for both of them. As the men unpacked her father's stuff, she sat on the grass, tying strands of it together to make a long rope of it, to pass the time. She looked up and saw a boy about her age looking over at her from across the street. She hoped he would come over and say hello, but she was also too shy. Two days later he was outside again and she was sitting in the grass. He came over and introduced himself as Sam. She told him that she was Akira, and that she was new. They became friends. Fast forward again and now she was 17. She walked hand in hand with Sam at a fair. School was over and they had been friends, and together for a very long time now. She noticed he was acting strange, nervous even. Maybe he was going to propose? Oh she hoped so! They sat eating cotton candy and he told her about the 'Lost City'. She was disappointed. Why was he so interested in Atlantis? The place sucked, she knew personally. He asked her to go with him and she bit her lip. She reluctantly agreed, silently wishing she had said no so she could continue living on land. She would miss her foster-now adopted- father. She sighed and looked at the bright lights of the fair. She would miss living here. But it was time to go back home.

When Sam popped out of his distant state, he found Akira looking the same way he probably had. He watched as she slowly returned to reality. He looked down at her in silence. He gathered up all his courage and pulled away, taking both of her hands in his own. "Akira, I love you. More than you'lll ever know. And I want to spend the rest of our lives together"- shaking alittle, he kneeled and took one of her hands. "Akira" he cleared his throat nervously, then continued" Akira, will you marry me?" he asked, stumbling on his words. He looked up at Akira with a small smile, unsure as to how she would react, and pulled the ring box out of his pocket, opening it to show a small ring (if you wanna find a pic, you can but im too lazy xD).

Akira came back to reality and looked at Sam. She smiled at him then frowned a little as he backed away but still held her hands. What was he doing? She watched as he lowered himself onto one knee and her breath caught. Ohmygoshwasthisreallyhappening?! She smiled down at him, blinking back tears as he asked the magical question. She grinned. "Of course!" She said and quickly hugged him. Images of them together for ever flashed through her mind. She was getting married to Sam! The day had finally come! That day at the carnival he had asked her to join him on a journey to her home. And now he was proposing to her where she was born. Oh how romantic! In a sub, of all places, but still totally romantic. She gave him a loving kiss and looked down at the ring. "Oh it's beautiful!"

xD /feels the same way. I've been at church since 8:15 this morning (It's 2 here) We did a commercial...but...the world wont get to see my awesome acting...1. Because my acting sucked Cx (We had to do this thing where Mr. Josh {leader person thingy} read a really boring part of the bible, which I forget what its called but its like, really boring- especially the way he read it. Totally monotoneish...whatever xD But it was so funny. And he was dressed all formal, like in a suit and tie, and had three deeeee glasses on with a piece of yellow tape in the very middle B) It was really hard not to laugh. We had to try to look bored. But atleast I looked good XD) 2. Because its a commercial only played on the church's teeveeeees.

O.O ^^^^This is why I do not have a twitter account. 140 characters? Pshhht

Anyway.

Sam smiled and let out a little sigh of relief, standing as she hugged him. He pulled the ring out of the box, which he set on the table, and slipped it on her finger. After a minute, looking at Akira looking at the ring, he led her out side and twirled/swung her around like in movies xD. He kissed her, but pulled away as his stomache growled. He chuckled, "How about that breakfast?" he joked, smiling and taking his fiances hand. He couldn't wait to get married.

Akira looked up at him and smiled. He led her outside and twirled her around. She giggled then laughed when he stomach growled. "Yes let's go get that breakfast." She pulled him back into the sub and headed into the kitchen. "What should we have?" She asked, looking through the food that they had. "We could have a big, yummy celebratory breakfast or a small normal breakfast. You pick." She said, teasing him. "I personally think we need to celebrate but if you want we can have a boring normal breakfast." She shrugged. "I don't judge."

Sam chuckled and put his arm around her, "I think this calls for a celebration breakfast." he said, grinning. "But what to have, what to have..." He looked in the cabinets (which there were like 6 of) and then glanced at the front of the sub. He saw someone hide and frowned. He walked outside and looked around, his eyes narrowed. He looked back at a puzzled Akira, "Just give me a second babe..." he said, looking around again as movement caught his eye.

Akira giggled. "I'm glad you picked the fun choice." She followed him to the cabinets and also looked around, wondering what would make a good breakfast. She saw him move towards the front of the sub and frowned, confused. "Where are you going?" She asked as he headed for the door. He told her to give him a second so she sat at the table and watched him. Did he see something outside? What was going on? Was someone spying on them? She didn't know who would do that. She watched him go outside and rested her chin on her hand and her elbow on the table. Oh what was that boy up to? He sure was acting weird.

Sam tried to run toward the bush thingy he had seen the movement come from, forgetting he was underwater. (Facepalm) He rolled his eyes, annoyed with himself. He swam toward where he had seen the motion, catching another flicker in his perefview. (XD whatever. You know what I mean) Frustrated and confused, he swam forward and thrust out his arm, closing his hand just in time to catch someone's arm. He struggled to pull the person out toward him....

Ash, Sarah, Madelyn, or someone else? (If you have an idea xD)

Akira sat in the kitchen. After he hadn't been back in a few minutes she stood up and walked to the window. He was swimming towards a bush. What was he doing, she wondered. As she watched he thrust his hand into the bush and grabbed someone's arm. Her eyes widened. Had someone been spying on them? She frowned. But who would do that? She watched as he struggled with the person, trying to pull them out of their hiding place. She walked to the door to get a better look for when they came out.

Sam gave a gentle yank, not wantingto hurt whoever it was he had just caught spying on them, and feel backwards. Or would've, if it hadn't happened he was underwater. "Madelyn?" he asked in disbelief, looking at Akira's embarrassed twin sister. He glanced back at the sub, and, seeing Akira, he raised an eyebrow, nodding his head towards her sister. He knew Akira wouldn't get too mad at her sister, but he kind of was. Spying? I mean, come on. Was she really that jealous? At the same time, he was kind ofof padded. She was jealous of Akira- no, he thought, don't think like that. What was he thinking?

Madelyn glared at Akira standing in the sub. "What are you looking at?" She snapped. Her eyes softened and her voice rose as she spoke to Sam. "Hello Sam. Nice of us to run into each other again." She said, batting her eyelashes. "Can I join you for breakfast? I'll help cook, my treat." She said, almost purring to him.

Akira stared coolly at her sister. She swam out of the sub and over to them. She placed her hand possessively on Sam's arm. "I dunno Madelyn. It's kind of a special breakfast." She glanced at Sam, weighing his reaction. He didn't seem too upset, just confused. She grabbed her sister's hand. "What are you doing here?" She asked Madelyn. She noticed her sister glance at Sam and frowned. "Sam's mine, Madelyn. You need to stop trying to get him."

"Uhh...Yeah. Nice" he said, dropping Madelyn s arm awkwardly. He looked over at Akira as she laid her hand on his arm. He shook his arm, letting her hand side down to his and intertwining their fingers. Sam nodded at Akira's last comment. Then Madelyn asked why this breakfast was so special she couldn't join. Sam looked at Akira, thinking she ought to be the one to two her sister. He gave her a light kiss on the cheek with a small, encouraging smile.

Akira smiled as he let her hand slip down his arm till they were holding hands. She sighed. "Madelyn, you just don't get it do you? You don't have a chance with Sam." She glanced at Sam, noticing his encouraging smile. "We're engaged." She said at last. Madelyn's look of horror made Akira bite her lip. "Maddy?" She asked, touching her sister's arm. "I'm telling Ash!" She screamed at Akira. Akira frowned and swam back a little bit at her sister's scream. Hurt flashed in her eyes. "Madelyn..............." She said, not able to finish her sentence. She knew Madelyn had a crush on Sam, but why wouldn't she give up? And now she was going to tell Ash. This wouldn't go over well. She dropped Sam's hand and pushed her sister back into the bush. "Do. Not. Tell. Ash." She said, emphasizing each word menacingly. Madelyn looked scared, her sister had never been like this to her. Was she going to hurt her?

Sam bit his lip at Akiras look of hurt and went to comfort her-and before he knew it, she was pushing her sister into the bush. He swam forward quickly, gently prying Akiras arms off of Madelyns with a small frown. "K...calm down." He rubbed her arm, taking her hand again. He looked at her sister, "Madelyn...we're together" he said gently, "You should move on..." he added.

Akira was blind with hurt and rage and was surprised when she felt Sam pulling her away. She looked at him, the hurt and anger fading from her eyes. She sighed softy and wrapped her arms around his middle. "I'm sorry Sam." She mumbled. "I just kinda lost it." She buried her face in his chest. She calmed down at his request and floated beside him, holding his hand. She avoided looking at Madelyn as Sam told her to move on. Madelyn was furious. "How dare you tell me to move on! You can't control me!" She cried. "I'll move on if I want to, which I don't. I'm not going to give up. Getting married at your age isn't going to end happy. You'll realize how big of a mistake marrying Akira was. She's waaayyyyy too old for you. So am I, but I'm still better than her. I'm prettier." She stated, forgetting that they were twins. "I'm nicer. I'm funnier. I'm a lot smarter. And I am the best match for you." She crossed her arms over her chest, frowning.

This time, not only Akira's eyes flashed with hurt and fury. Sam gritted his his teeth at her insults and sighed as Akira pulled away from him and the girls started to fight. Oh no. He quickly stepped in and managed to get them apart. Panting slightly, He looked between the two and shook his head, his arms up acting like bars to keep then from fighting again. When they looked calmer, he slowly lowered his arms before rubbing Akira's for a second and then turning to Madelyn. Before he could say anything, she lunged at him and he couldn't tell if it was to hurt him or to give him a kiss as he instinctively turned, Akira's twin landing on his back. And then she was on Akira. Or Akira was on her. It happened to fast for him to see, but he did know they were on the sandy floor engaged in a full blown fight. Seemingly moving in slow motion, Sam pulled them apart once again. He put Madelyn down, hurt, anger, and concern burning in his eyes as he turned to lean over Akira who had a busted lip, a bruise forming under her eye and a bloody nose. He glared up at Madelyn, who had escaped with nail marks on her arms and a cut on her face. "Just...go" he said, and his voice was different. Madelyn had crossed the line.
