He rubbed the back of his neck and looked down at her. “Lawndree….I want to go out with you.. Will you be my girlfriend?” He asked, slightly blushing. Aiden reached for her hand and entwined their fingers.

He looked at her, mommentarily stunned. Aiden thought they had a connection. Shaking his head he looked at her retreating figure, "Lawndree, can you at least tell me why? You can spare me that, considering my feeings towards you.." He mummered, looking down.

Lawndree turned back to Aiden, slightly hearing a few words of his murmur.. "Because, I want to be like Stayley and stay the way I am now." She told him, but then walked away.

He looked rather pained. Aiden wanted nothing more than to run after her and embrace her. He was just about him, but neglected it and cursed under his breath. He lost her. This wasn’t a trick of his mind, he lost Lawndree and he wasn’t getting her back this time. What did he come back to California for? Her and there she goes, just ripping his heart out. He leant it to none other than her and he regretted the decision now.

Lawndree was looking straight ahead the whole way walking home, remembering Aiden, Josh, and Aiden... She felt bad for what she had done to him, she knew he must be hurt. As she turned around to go back to him, it was a flash before her eyes, the last thing she saw was an ambulance and Stayley. The next thing she knew is that there was blood running down her arms, but her vision was blurry and a paramedic told her that she's been hit by a car.

Aiden
His eyes widen in shock as the car smashed against her. Before he knew it, he started running towards her. Screaming out her name, tears running down his cheeks. This wasn’t happening. The girl that just broke his heart had been hit by a car. It put a terrible ache in his chest. Aiden ran over to her on the gurney and held her hand tight, not caring about the blood that was getting on him. “Lawndree.” He muttered. No use in yelling, that would just hurt her ears. Hadn’t she been through enough pain? Guessing Aiden was her boyfriend, the paramedics let him come along in the ambulance with her to the hospital. He held her hand the whole way. Just looking at that angelic face, hoping those beautiful blue eyes would open once more and those lips would hold a smile. He bit his lip and closed his eyes, hoping for the best.

She, uncomfortably, bit at her bottom lip. A bad habit she should get out of. Was Kade just a child hood friend, or more than that? “Well..” She started, looking at her toes sinking into the warm sand, “What do you think?” She didn’t add her thoughts. That would just be embarrassing, considering that she just met the guy, again. But, Alice felt that she knew him her whole life. How could she forget someone as sweet as him? It was almost impossible. She sighed and waited for an answer, or his input, so to speak.

Chase was sitting in the park listening to his 4th generation iPod touch. His foot was tapping along to the beat of New Divide by Linkin Park. He flipped his light brown hair out of his eyesight as he looked to the ground, then back up, then back down... On and on....

Lawndree's eyes were like glue, they wouldn't open. She could only dream that she was okay. But she knew she wasn't. She had to hope that Stayley would call her Aunt and Uncle, her guardians. She heard the voice of Aiden and didn't want anything more but to stay with him.

They brought her to the emergency room and Aiden had to stay in the waiting room. He was frantic, pacing about the room. The nurses stared at him, very confused at the most. But nothing mattered. Not what anything thought of him, not that people were staring, not even him. It was Lawndree. Was she going to be okay? He didn’t even care anymore that she rejected him. Even if she shunned him after, He would stay until he was certain she would be okay. The surgery and immediate medical treatment took over two hours. They let him in after that and Lawndree was barely awake. He swiftly walked over and held her hand. “Lawndree?” He asked, concern covering his features.

Lawndree had stitches in her arms and legs and she looked up at Aiden, her eyes kept wanting to close, but she forced them to stay open and they finnaly did. She reached out to him, and noticed all kinds of balloons and stuffed animals and hearts, and things like that. She looked back at Aiden and quietly said... "I love you..."

This brought tears to his eyes. Did she really? He didn’t have time to think, he bit his lip and leaned down and gently kissed her forehead, his lips lingering there. “I’ve loved you for a long time. You’ve always had my heart, and you always will.” He muttered, pulling away. He still had her hand in his and he squeezed it slightly. Aiden wanted to smile but couldn’t possibly when she was in this state. But he also didn’t want to leave her side, he just couldn’t.

Lawndree's eyes were almost opened completely. She looked up at Aiden and put her weak hand on his cheek. She could barely move, it was even painful to breath, or even blink. It just burned.

He cracked a small, dry smile and held her hand to his cheek. Moving her palm over to his lips, he gently kissed it and layed it back down by her side. “You need to rest..” He murmured. “Don’t worry..I’ll be here when you wake up. You can sleep now, I won’t let anything hurt you...” He said, giving her lips a soft, gentle kiss.

Lawndree looked up at him and nodded and she slowly closed her eyes. She was now breathing as a normal teenager would. She kept dreaming that she and Aiden would grow up and marry, and have twin boys. And later when she woke up, she saw that she was strong enough to sit up, but not strong enough to walk, or do anything else similar to that.

He smiled down at her. His eyes were weary with sleep deprivation. He hadn’t had a blink of sleep in twenty four hours. Aiden just couldn’t leave her to sleep. He had to watch her and make sure she was safe like he promised. “Morning beautiful.” He murmured, pushing a lock of her golden hair behind her ear. “Sleep well?”

Lawndree smiled as he said that. "Just fine. I'm feeling much better." She kissed three of her fingers and reached them up to his lips since she couldn't reach up there.

He smiled once more. Being in her presence gave him all the energy he needed. All the thoughts of sleep left his mind, and he looked more awake than before. “That’s good. You still have a long way until you recover. But I’ll be right by your side through the whole thing. You’ll always have a shoulder to lean on and a hand to hold when you’re feeling weak.” On that note, he gave her hand a light squeeze. She looked so pale in her state. She looked so feeble. Not the strong-willed Lawndree he knew. She didn’t even look like the same girl. But he knew that she would pull through, head held high. That’s the kind of girl she always was and always would be. His Lawndree. It brought him joy to say she was his again.

Lawndree brought a strong, but weak smile to her face. She remembered her dream last night, but she didn't think that Aiden would stay with her that long to even get married, or have children. She just tried clearing her mind of that, but it wasn't so easy.

Did it taste nasty?

He smiled, “What are you thinking about?” He muttered, laying down next to her. But he didn’t take to much space up, but he just wanted to be close to her. “Hm?” He asked, holding her face in his hands.
