Travis watched as people filled the center of the town. He took a deep breath his stomach hurt. He was scared. He was always scared on this day, how could he not be? Travis froze as the reaping started. The video was shown and the woman at the front started to speak. He looked up watching as she spoke. She was on odd looking woman with bright red hair and pail skin. Her makeup looked as if a child had gotten onto her shoulders and drawn on her as if she were a coloring book. It was always odd to see people from the capital. They were so unlike everyone else. Travis swallowed hard as she said he classic line. " Well lets get started, ladies first." The woman said with a huge, inhuman like grim. She pulled a name. Travis knew the girl from school. She was a cripple, couldn't walk without crutches supporting her body. She had no chance. Travis truly felt bad. She would make it past the first day. But then someone. Travis could see who ran forward, saying she would take he place. The voice, Travis knew that voice. It was a voice he grew to love. The voice of one of his dearest friend.

" Flicker..." He mutters. Why would she do that? He siblings wouldn't last without here. Her parents would be able to live with out their daughter they would be like zombies, walking around the town. And her brother would be sickened, maybe even take his own life. Who knew. Travis watched the girl walked onto the stage. Travis took a deep breath as the woman spoke again.

" Travis Longsteen!" The woman called. Travis froze his jaw dropping. He male behind him gave him a quick shove and he headed out on the stage. But that wasn't what brought tears to his eyes. It was the calls from his little sister.

" Travis no!!" The little girl cried pushing through people. A peace keeper grabbed her before she could get much further and held her back. Travis knew people would think he was week for letting the tears form in his eyes, but he couldn't help it. The little girl meant the world to him. He took his place on the stage soon hearing to sobs from his mother. Travis blinked a few time before he stood tall and awaited to woman to speak.

Flicker heard murmurs of dissent as she volunteered herself as tribute. She was friendly with many people from town. She loved to spend her time with anyone who was willing to stop and talk. She knew many of the people in the audience personally. They were like her family. This was her home. And she would probably never see it again. She looked down and bit her lip, keeping the tears at bay. She heard the sobbing of her little sister as she was held back by the other twelve year olds. She met her brother's eyes who for the first time that she had ever seen were spilling tears. She searched the crowd for her parents. When she found them she saw that they were embracing each other. Her mother was sobbing and even her father was crying. She heard the lady call out the boy's name and her head snapped up. Travis? It couldn't be... She watched him make his way towards the stage....her dear friend. Her eyes moved to see the peacekeepers holding his sister back. Her heart broke a little more as she heard the heartbroken sobs of the little girl. She watched Travis climb up to the stage. As he came to stand beside her, she silently reached over and hooked one of her fingers around one of his. It was a sign of companionship. Of friendship.

She dared not look at him, nor to think of how one of them or both would not make it back to their home. They were escorted to the Justice Building where they were put into separate rooms so they could say goodbye to whoever came in. First came in her family. Her brother gathered her into his arms and her sister joined the hug. After a moment her parent's closed in and it was one big family hug. She began to sob, feeling so at home in their arms. After the hug broke up her parents and sister were escorted out. Her brother stayed, fidgeting with something in his hands. It was necklace. He fastened it around her neck and placed a kiss on her forehead before walking out. She looked down with a smile. It was his lucky necklace.

District one

Ryan opened his eyes, his mom standing over him. She was scrawny, and she was very clearly nervous. "Wake up, honey!" she said, her voice shaking. With a sigh, he realized why his mom was so nervous- it was the day of the reaping and his name was in the bucket many times. He got up and quickly got dressed, putting on his best clothes- always saved for the day of the reaping. He bit his lip as he got ready. He was the only child- another reason to worry his mom.

Because I want to get a post up, I'll leave it at that. >.<

District 1

Atala woke up to the sound of her baby brother and sister crying. They were twins. She got up and helped her mom get them ready for the reaping. It was the same every year. Everyone would gather in the town's square unless they were at death's door and 2 tributes, one male and one female, would be chosen to compete in the Hunger Games. She hoped no one she knew would be picked to be sent into that bloodbath. It would surely mean death since only one tribute came out alive. She put on her best dress and kissed her mother and father on the cheek. She hurried ahead of them into the town square and stood in the roped off section for the kids ages 12-18. She stood in her spot among her classmates and waited. As tradition, the lady on the stage went to the girl's ball first. She picked out a slip of paper and read the name. "Atala Lovegood." Atala screamed," NO!" She tried to run for it but the peacekeepers caught her and hauled her up onto the stage where she stood, trembling and sobbing. She had prayed for her friends to stay safe, but she had forgotten to pray for herself.

As Ryan walked with his shaking mother to the town square, he passed people he knew. All looked depressed, except a few stuck up people who wanted so desperately to take place in the stupid Games. It made him sick. He stood with the teens his age, completely silent as the ridiculously dressed lady called out a girls name. "Atala Lovegood!" He watched as she tried to make a run for it, then get caught by the Peacekeepers. He hated them more than anything. He looked away as they forced her on stage, waiting for the male name to be called. He had a small chance of getting called, but still more than some others. The lady reached into the bucket with the boys names and pulled out a slip of paper, smiling her fake smile, as if she were the happiest woman on Earth. "Ryan Gurlan!" she called out happily. He stood stock still, frozen to the spot. But...how? Him? No! His mom needed him..and all his friends...He took a deep breath and started to tremble as he walked slowly down the aisle. There was no point in running. No one would volunteer tribute- nobody ever does, even the sickos who wanted in the Games. A tear slipped down his cheek as he approached the stage. Peacekeepers shoved him up, forcing him to walk faster.

He glanced over at the girl, Atala Lovegood. He had seen her around before. With a small sniffle, he looked at all the people he knew. Biting his lip, Ryan found his mom, sobbing. A couple of her friends were holding her arms, trying to calm her down. He had no brothers or sisters to cry for him, for which he was glad. He scanned the crowd, looking for his best friend as the lady who had picked names said some cheesy stuff. He wasn't listening. Finally, he found him. He couldn't help but let a few more tears out. This would be the last time he saw them- well, there was, of course, the good-bye time that was..what, two minutes? He took a shaky deepbreath as the men in suits* grabbed his arms, forcing him to walk down the stage.

Atala sighed as the way too cheerful lady called the name of the male. Ryan Gurlan. She recognized him from school. She bit her lip nervously as she watched him take the stage. They were forced to shake hands then they were led away into the Justice Building where their visitors would come and say goodbye. She once again tried to make a break for it. She grabbed Ryan's arm. "C'mon!" She urged. "Run!" She let go of his arm and took off down the hallway. She stopped and looked back at him. "Hurry! We're gonna die if we go to the Games!" She ducked into a room and slammed the door shut, locking it. The Peacekeepers had temporarily left the hallway to deal with some other matter and they had left Ryan there.

Ryan bit his lip uncertainly as the girl ran away, following her after a moments hesitation. He slipped in the room just before she could close the door. "We're going to be killed if they find us. Or find out we've gone missing. Do you want your family dead? Because if they can't find and kill us, they'll find and kill our families" he whispered. He waited for her reaction, expecting an arguement. But it was the truth. They would kill his mom, and whatever family she had. And then, when they found them, they would kill them too. There was no way around it.

Atala was horrified, knowing that what he said was the truth. "Our families! Dang it I hadn't thought of that! Hurry! Back to the hallway!" She grabbed his hand and pulled him back to where they had been standing. The Peacekeepers came back and frowned. "Why are you breathing so hard?" One asked. Atala thought for a moment. "We were exercising. Long train ride, ya know?" She started doing some jumping jacks, sit ups, and push ups. Then they escorted them into two separate rooms where their visitors came to say goodbye. She said goodbye to her family and friends then they took her onto the train. :D

Xenia- District 7
Xenia woke to the crackle of a fire, she felt the heat on her face as she rolled over getting her bearings. As she adjusted to waking up she tried to think of what she needed to do today, she shot up. The reaping... she murmured quietly. She looked around, her older sister was still asleep and she could hear her dad murmuring to himself  in the kitchen. She sighed, stood up and went over to the small wooden wardrobe to find the dress she was supposed to wear for the reaping. Xen thought about how many times her name was in the bowl and how many more times it was going to go in after today, her sister, Zara, was 19 now so she would be in the audience with their father this year, she was glad he'd have someone to make sure he was okay. She didn't think much about any one else, she was an outcast and secretly hoped that some of the school bullies would get chosen. But mostly she just hoped that whoever  the unlucky pair were they weren't anyone she knew, not again. Xenia closed her eyes and thought back to the year before, Zara's best friend's name had been picked, the girl was killed by the district 3 boy after 2 days. Xenia shook her head and took out the baby blue dress that she would be wearing for the day, she went into the bathroom got a shower and changed. When she emerged from the bathroom her sister was awake and she could smell the pancakes her dad had made them.
When she came through her dad greeted her nervously, she sat down and started piling pancakes onto her plate, Are you glad you're not in this year Zara? she asked desperately trying to make conversation. Zara looked at her, Yeh. She sighed, How many times is your name in though Xen? What if it's you? Xenia shook her head at the questions, Don't worry Z, it won't be me... she trailed off, she really hoped it wouldn't be her. After they'd eaten the room felt much less tense and Xenia felt more relaxed, she looked over at the clock and took a deep breath. It's time. She said and the three of them left the house heading to the reaping together.
When they got there Xenia signed in and took her place among all the other 16 year old girls, looking around she could see a lot of the girls crying or shaking and she knew how they felt. Suddenly a hush came over the masses of people as the rather green looking woman from the Capitol named Ashby Petal walked up on stage. Hello! She smiled, Welcome district 7! Happy hunger games, and... Ashby paused, May the odds be ever in your favor. Xenia tuned out for a while until the green lady put her hand in the first bowl, the girl's bowl, she took a deep breath. Ashby Petal took her time in picking a slip of paper, she opened the slip and read out the name in an overly cheerful tone Xenia Fellton. Xenia's heart skipped a beat, she felt weak and thought her knees were about to give out. How could it be me She couldn't comprehend what the lady had said but the girl next to her was pushing her towards the center aisle, Xenia half walked, half was pushed onto the platform next to Ashby. Well, here we have district 7's female tribute, Xenia!

Kye- District 10
Kye woke early that day, he knew exactly what day it was and hadn't slept well. He got up and put on a loose top, it was his first year in the draw and his name was only in once, he looked around knowing that there wouldn't be anyone there. Last year his brother had been picked, he wasn't the victor. That left just him and his parents, he went out of the house and fed the chickens in the garden. Kye walked round to the barn to milk the cows and the goats, when he opened the door he found his best friend already in there, it was his second year. Hey Zack. Kye sighed going and sitting next to Zack, Zack looked at him and smiled Hey Kye. he said weakly. How long have you been up? Kye asked looking at his friend accusingly, Since about 5. Zack laughed a little. What are they making you wear? I've got some kind of fancy shirt and smart trousers. Same more or less. Kye replied throwing straw at his friend, Zack looked at him and threw some back, after 5 minutes both boys were rolling around on the floor of the barn play fighting. After a while Zack's sister came  in to find them on the floor covered in mud and straw laughing their heads off. Zack! Kye! The reaping's in an hour and a half! The boys glared at her but got up and went home, Kye waved to Zack as his sister dragged him in the opposite direction, he sighed and walked into his house. He put the kettle on to boil and went to wash himself, half an hour later he was taking his dad a mug of coffee and his mum a cup of black tea with sugar. Hey, we need to get ready for the  reaping. It's my first year. Kye said shaking his mum's arm, she sat up nudging Kye's father awake as well.
 Kye's mum brushed his hair pulling out a couple of bits of straw that he'd missed and then Kye went to put on his pale cream shirt and dark grey trousers, they were a little big and quite uncomfortable. Mum where are my shoes? He  called looking around trying to find them, he walked through to the kitchen in his neon yellow socks and his mum laughed at him Here Kye. she said softly handing him his smart black shoes. Can I walk with Zack to the reaping? he asked after he'd got them on, his mother smiled slightly and nodded, Kye cheered and almost ran out of the door and to his friends house.
10 minutes later he was stood in front of Zack at the back of the age 12 boys in the reaping lines, there was a lot of noise, all of the boys around him were very nervous and trying to find their older siblings among the crowds of children and parents behind them. Kye and Zack were both murmuring the words to their favorite song from their favorite movie, This is Halloween, this is Halloween, Halloween, Halloween, Halloween, Halloween. In this town we call home, everybody hail to the pumpkin song... they sang in whispers just as the crowd began to fall silent. A tall woman dressed in orange with large cream hair and orange lips stepped on to the stage. Kye stood on tip toes and bit his lip as the lady began.
