Skaian Stories
Okay. There is a lot of reading. All of it is background on the world’s history, hierarchy, classes, aspects, species, etc… There is a lot but all of it is relatively important and will help you in making your own character and understanding the world. I recommend looking over WHAT the different roles and aspects are, and the description for each role is.
I put it in a spoiler to avoid clutter. But really. Look it over. It isn’t actually finished. I only have stuff written about Earth and Alternia. But that should be enough. I’m very sorry if it is hard to follow I just thought it would be fun.
The world is set in a rather medieval setting. There is no technology. Keep that in mind.

Story
- Spoiler:
Preface
There has always been war between the kingdoms of Skaia. The four distinct Kingdoms each having a very different definition for ‘peace’ and each having a very different way of achieving it. Though it is hard to understand this distinct difference without first understanding the four kingdoms. As I write this out for the future generations I hope they take from it all that they can and that the future Seer of Light will not take this lightly.
The Continent: Sburb
Earth
This is where I reside in this land of ours and the living place of the humans. The Kingdom of Earth. The language of Earth is a dialect called ‘English’, named after the rather unholy creature it originated from. Humans, compared to others, are very fragile creatures. We do not have tough skin or sharp claw; our eyesight is not exceptional and our senses of both hearing and smell are rather inadequate. We are not built to fight; we are not built to last. We are, though, built to think.
Humans are very creative and have a knack for coming up with things that other wouldn’t have been able to. I would bother to list a few but I am trying to make this work as unbiased as possible, so if you as a reader don’t mind, I am going to skip forward to our Hierarchy.
Earth’s hierarchy is identical to that of the Kingdom of Alternia, (Alternia is governed by a race called the ‘trolls’ and I will write more on them later) and it encompasses the naming of a title at birth. Important families will have ‘The Seeress’ (In Earth this is the reigning Seer of Light, in Alternia it would be the Seer of Mind) come to their house and read into their child’s life. They are assigned an aspect at that point, and in some cases they are also assigned a role.
Aspects include:- Time
- Breath
- Doom
- Blood
- Heart
- Space
- Mind
- Light
- Void
- Rage
- Hope
- Life
And the roles include:- Maid
- Page
- Mage
- Knight
- Rouge
- Sylph
- Seer
- Thief
- Heir
- Bard
- Prince
- Witch
In most cases any role can be born to any person, exceptions are made for the roles of Knight, Heir, Prince, Witch and Mage, where Princes, Knights and Heirs can only be born to Princes, Knights and Heirs; and where Witches and Mages can only be born to Witches and Mages.
Now upon being assigned to an aspect and/or a role, certain actions are taken.
If a person has been assigned just an aspect then they will go on as though nothing occurred, the different roles however will be assigned to jobs as soon as they reach the age thirteen (which was an age decided by the Seeress both the humans and the trolls many years ago). Their roles in society are as follow:- Thief: One of the few roles that is frowned down upon as soon as it is discovered. Those named as ‘Thief’ are usually very witty and creative. They are strong willed and very forward. And usually, if not always, have roots in evil, whether it is developed later in life very subtly or is incredibly obvious from first actions. Thieves are usually banished from the capital as soon as they reach thirteen years of age. This applies especially thieves that are assigned aspects such as ‘doom’, ‘rage’ or ‘blood’.
- Rouge: Similar to Thief in the fact that they are witty and creative. It is less likely for a rouge to delve in evil tendencies. (Again I try to be as unbiased as possible). They are kept an eye on though. They are usually very athletic people and can be very dangerous. Rouges will either be the extremes of any spectrum. A ‘Lawful Good’ or a ‘Chaotic Evil’ usually not much in between, those who commit even a single serious crime are banished from the capital.
- Bard: It is rare for a Bard to be very important. The only Bards in all of recorded history that have ever made any sort of difference to anything were the ‘Bard of Rage’ and the ‘Bard of Hope’, in both cases a wars outcome was swayed, in one case against the Bard’s home in the other for. They are known to have the potential to flip and twist situations entirely. Most are just annoying clowns and musicians often hired by royalty. They are usually very free-spirited and mellow.
- Sylph: This role changes based on the Aspect they are assigned. A sylph is very gifted in whatever aspect they are a part of. A Sylph blessed in ‘Hope’, ‘Breath’, ‘Light’, ‘Life’ and ‘Heart’ usually become powerful woman of nobility: beautiful and graceful and usually incredibly kind. Those blessed in ‘Mind,’ ‘Space’ and ‘Time’ are usually brilliantly smart and are scholars in society. Lastly a Sylph blessed in, ‘Doom’, ‘Rage’, ‘Blood’ or ‘Void’ can make for wonderful villainesses; a wonderful mix of clever, beautiful and insane.
- Maid: Very quiet and docile people they are very good at following rules, not always instructions, but rules. They are lawful and willing to help. They are usually used as maids for nobility, though the range of their duties is vast. Some may be used just for cleaning or running errands, more often a maid is used to do paper work, for they are very competent people. Usually the brightest of Maids are chosen to serve under the Prince and can do anything from clean to arrange meetings and or events.
- Mage: Powerful male magic users. Only Mages with the aspect ‘Hope’, ‘Life’ and ‘Heart’ are not banished at the age of 13. Compared to their female counterparts they are incredibly docile still their power is something that is feared by those who do not have them. For this reason they are cast away from large cities unless employed by the castle.
- Witch: Powerful female magic users. Often much more powerful than mages, especially linked to aspects such as ‘Doom’, ‘Space’, ‘Light’, ‘Time’ and ‘Life’. Like Mages only Witches with the aspect ‘Hope’, ‘Life’ and ‘Heart’ are not banished at the age of 13. Even though they can range from a very kind nature to a tyrannical nature, their power if deemed dangerous and therefore they are banished from living in large cities at the age of 13.
- Page: Work under the Knights, though they undergo similar training to Knights they are usually used more as a sort of security force throughout the capitals. Where Knights would be in charge of taking care of noblemen a Page would be sent to break up a scuffle breaking out in town. They usually have a very keen sense of justice and will work tirelessly to fix a problem; even ones they have no right sticking their nose into. They are very often assigned a Knight that they will work and train with, especially in times of war when the pair would be sent out as a team.
- Knight: The backbone of our society, the true keepers of peace. This is a very rare role to come across; only the strongest are born to this role. They seem to have a softer side, a sense of humanity, but a strong sense for what is right and the strength to go through what others would crumble under. They work in close quarters with the Prince. There is usually one or two Knights that are granted a higher status and these Knights are often tasked with the protection and wellbeing of the Prince.
- Seer: Powerful people, usually woman, who have high cognitive abilities. Have the power to delve into a person’s mind and future. They are placed so high in the hierarchy because they are often very close to the Prince. The Seer of Light (for humans) and the Seer of Mind (for trolls) are counsels to the Prince and oversee many important duties, like the naming of titles.
- Heir: Are probably the most varied when it comes to personality. One Heir is appointed by the Prince when the Prince reaches a certain age (in this case 16). This appointed Heir will have rights to the throne if the Prince dies before a new Prince is born. This appointment can take up to a year by itself. (It is more relevant in Alternian society to name an Heir to the Prince. We Humans have simply adopted the idea for the sake of equality.)
- Prince: The ruler of the land. There is only ever one or two Princes alive at one time in either Kingdom. It is strange the way fate works in that way. As though the Gods can understand the need for a Prince growing and will send one to us. They are usually quite stubborn and are often very cocky. These people need to be strong and need to be able to lead since it is what they are born into.
On the topic of the Titles I do find it necessary to bring up the topic of the eight Gods and their stories.
Eons ago it is said that these people saved our Kingdom from the beast Lord English. They sealed him away and gave him his keeper, a young Capracian whose name is forever lost. He was granted the immortality of the Gods by the 8 and to this day lives protecting the world from this beast, the living legacy of the 8 God; holding on to the remnants of their powers. It is said that if he was to die it would unleash the beast.
The 8 Gods from what we know have been dead for hundreds of years, and there had been no time when all of their incarnations have existed at the same time. No one knew what would happen if all eight were reborn.- The Heir of Breath: A man with the power to control and ride the wind. He was seen as their leader as he was the one that held them together, the glue that kept them from breaking apart when things got difficult. (Strange how the most important figure of the eight can have the least description.)
- The Seer of Light: The Seer was granted with the power to see into their future. It was hinted to that even she was not able to control the visions completely and everything she saw was. She was a brilliant thinker and very over analytical. At one point during the journey, unlike the others who didn’t once stray from their intended path, she nearly destroyed everything single handedly. The Darkness consumed her, the real details of what happened to her are foggy at best. It is depicted that the Heir of the Breath is the one that saved her from the Darkness.
- The Knight of Time: (Again, trying to stay unbiased, but it bothers me so immensely that the word ‘cool’ is used to describe him in more than one text) The Knight had control over time. Even his perception of time was a lot different than our own. It is stated that where we can live three weeks he had lived for three months. He was one of the few that understood the true fall backs of his powers and the first of them to refuse to use them to avoid hurting any more of the people he cared about. (Though it could just as easily be argued that he just didn’t want to see any more of his alternate selves being killed on timelines that should have never existed… but that is up for interpretation.) In the end it was only with his knowledge and talent with the timeline that they were able to keep Lord English from returning.
- The Witch of Space: Probably one of the most powerful of the 8 the witch had the power to manipulate matter itself, bending even the fabric of space. She had a strong sense of justice and strove for peace. She and the Maid were the two who based their powers down to the young Capracian tasked with keeping Lord English at bay. She was ever willing to hand over what she could to protect all of the people who had done no wrong.
- The Maid of Life: Similar in thinking to the Witch, she did not believe in punishment where it wasn’t due. She granted her power over to the Capracian so he would be able to live, that he would be able to continue when she had to stop and save those who didn’t deserve to die. She herself believes to have failed in her own task as the Maid of life by letting one of the Gods die.
- The Page of Hope: The Page acted as a Martyr and was killed in the process of restraining the beast. He was indeed a powerful man and lived up to the title of Hope. His death was a true loss to the other seven. It is often depicted: the Heir of Breath reassuring the group about the presence of ‘Hope’ in their group even when it seemed like it was gone. (Truly a heartwarming sentiment if I do say so myself)
- The Rouge of Void: She was a very powerful woman who had wonderful control over the Void. She was the one finally banished Lord English away, finally able to utilize her powers to the fullest in the last moments. It is said that she was often inebriated.
- The Prince of Heart: Also known as the ‘Destroyer of Souls’ the Prince did not rely on his powers much at all in his powers; at least not his godly ones. It is speculated that the Prince hated his role, so he refused to fight as anything more than a mortal. He was very physically powerful though, and even without the use of his powers he was able to do most of the brunt work in the fight himself. He was one of the strongest thinkers in the group; he never had an action that wasn’t thoroughly calculated beforehand.
Lord English is not something that all of the other Kingdoms believe in. In fact the more common story brought about in this sort of Godly Banishment lore is the story of the Devil Beast, Noir. It is not that the humans don’t believe in Noir it is that the fabric of space and time were only truly threatened by the presence of English.
Alternia
The Kingdom to the East of Earth.
The trolls of Alternia are very different from the humans of Earth. They are built for fighting; they have strong skin, elongated ‘claws’, pointed fangs and a set of yellow/orange horns. Trolls are a very violent race. It was part of the reason the Seers of Light and Mind decided it would be best for both the humans and the trolls to share a hierarchal system to keep everything, in both races, under some sort of control.
The other main difference between the humans and the trolls is the importance of blood and blood colour. Unlike humans, trolls have 12 different blood colours. In the old way things were run those with the ‘most royal’ blood colour got to rule the land. It is still very common for Princes, Heirs, Knight and Witches to be born with very high blood.
The colours are as follows:- Dark Red – Lowest
- Rust Orange
- Dark Yellow
- Lime Green
- Olive Green
- Jade Green
- Blue/Green
- Cerulean Blue
- Indigo Blue
- Purple
- Violet
- Fuchsia – Highest
Though there have also been instances of a ‘mutant’ blood colour, usually a red hue very like the blood colour of humans.
Though the delegation of blood caste has been greatly decreased in the last few decades, it is still a problem that trolls have to deal with. This is even visible when looking back at the Gods that the trolls worship, where it is seen that, in most cases, the powerful roles are assigned to those with higher ranked blood.
The gods that the trolls worship are said to have known or at least known of the Eight Gods that the humans worship. The trolls have a team of twelve instead of eight though. These twelve were said to have defeated the Devil Beast, Jack Noir. Unlike in the story of the Eight Gods, many of the troll Gods ended up dying during their quest. They are the following:- The Maid of Time
- The Page of Breath
- The Mage of Doom
- The Knight of Blood
- The Rouge of Heart
- The Sylph of Space
- The Seer of Mind
- The Thief of Light
- The Heir of Void
- The Bard of Rage
- The Prince of Hope
- The Witch of Life
The Felt
Referred to by Alternians’ as ‘The Moon’
The Felt is the strip of land between the Kingdoms of Alternia and Earth that has no set ruler. The entire area is deemed too dangerous to live. There are large brutish creatures out there.
As the name might indicate, everything in this land is a green hue. This monotony is only broken by the odd village or river or field of flowers.
Those that are banished from Alternia and Earth are usually sent out to the Felt, so there are small villages where these castaways live, and it is one of the only places where Humans and Trolls both live together in the same area.
Rules
1. Multiple paragraphs are your friends. This is advanced for a reason. Whether you decide to make more than one character or not, each character should have at least one decent sized paragraph.
2. No Godmodding (Giving your character god like qualities or in some other way making them invincible) and No Powerplaying (Taking control of another person’s character in any way shape or form)
3. No double posting or separate OOC posts. In other words if you post something don’t post anything else until someone else has posted. If you are going to have OOC sections make sure it is obvious. I personally put my OOC details in (( [insert text here] )) brackets like that. The only posts that can be doubled up on are Character forms.
4. Your characters need to be approved and added to the list of accepted characters before you can begin roleplaying. And each character should be in their own posts to make coding easier for me. Thank you very much.
5. No ‘Prince’ characters allowed! Both the prince spots are filled.

In personality ‘Meet me’ is not allowed. This should be as detailed as one of your posts. Have fun with it you will have to learn to love this character.
When naming a Troll character you have to keep in mind that both their first and last names are going to be 6 letters each. Like ‘Eridan’ for a first name and ‘Ampora’ for a last name. Both of the names have 6 letters each.

Re: Skaian Stories
Name: Dirk Strider
Age: 18
Gender: Male
Role: Prince
Aspect: Heart
Height & Weight: 6’ & 150lbs
Eyes: The iris’ are orange in colour and he often glares. Though his eyes are covered by his shades.
Hair: Very light blond it is shaped into very messy spikes on top of his head. His bangs come down to his eyebrows. He is very particular about his hair and loves the way it looks. He does take his time in making sure that it looks the way he wants it too.
General Appearance: A very strong man, he hates the fact that the colour associated with ‘heart’. He is very pale skinned and has freckles dusting his upper cheeks. His face is very defined and masculine and completely goes against what his class would deem normal.
Personality: Dirk is very quiet unless he is talking to people he is comfortable around. He is very intellectual and has a tendency to use large words that not everyone he hangs around understands, his younger brother being one of the ones who doesn’t understand. He enjoys spending time by himself contemplating some very heavy topics such as life and what he is on the planet to succeed. He does not think he makes a very good Prince but he handles it without making it obvious that he doesn’t want to be there; because of this though he is often running off and spending time in the Felt and ignoring his Princely duties.
Earth is the leading land in technology thanks to him. He loves tinkering in clockwork, and finds the way cogs can work with one another and being able to use a spring to move something from a distance, very interesting. On days when he cannot get out of the castle he will spend time by himself creating new little contraptions.
He is also fond of poetry and will often share songs or poems with his brother and the local Bards who would sing his songs to him. It was one of the few things he really appreciated.
Dirk is not very good at showing his emotions and often comes off as very cold and uncaring. It is just due to the fact that he is rather awkward when he is forced to interact with other people, therefore prefers not to interact. It has impacted his ability to communicate how he feels about people or things. He is almost always wearing an emotionless mask.
Biography: He was the first son to a young couple. His father had been a rather low ranked Knight and his mother had been a very beautiful Sylph. Both were shocked to find out that they had had a Prince, and not just a Prince, a godly Prince of Heart. Dirk was set up to be on the throne as soon as he turned 13 years old.
Within these thirteen years his parents had Dave, his little brother, and another godly titled child. The Knight of Time. Needless to say at a very young age Dave was set to protect his own older brother, though it was very common for their roles to switch because Dirk was the eldest and he did feel the need to protect his little brother.
They did have a rather normal childhood, despite being surrounded by people a lot of the time. This is part of the reason Dirk distanced himself from other so much later on in life. He didn’t want the attention and neither did his brother, but Dave was better at hiding it than Dirk was. Dirk would run off quite often and would make life very difficult for his parents.
When he did become the Prince of Earth he took the job very seriously. He would goof off or run away from what he was supposed to do but in the end he would always get everything done. He wasn’t going to let his people down, that wasn’t the kind of person he was. He himself believes he is too young to be ruling a country but he had been given no choice in the matter so when he does hold himself around other people he holds himself with a Princely pride, as he is supposed to.

Re: Skaian Stories
Name:Eridan Ampora
Age: 18
Gender: Male
Blood Colour: Violet
Role: Prince
Aspect: Hope
Height & Weight: 5’8” & 150lbs
Eyes: A very dark purple iris with a yellow/orange sclera
Hair: Short and black it is also rather wavy. He keeps it up out of his face, though it is often held back by his hood anyways. To show off his high ranking in society he had his bangs colours a very regal purple to match his very regal blood colour. He takes a lot of pride in his hair, as well as the rest of his appearance.
Horns: Though not incredibly long, they are shaped similar to thunder bolts pointed backwards.
General Appearance: Eridan is rather scrawny compared to a lot of other trolls. He doesn’t have very much muscle on him and is mostly bone compared to most. This is mostly due to the fact that he has very old blood which means he is built to live underwater not on land. He has gills on his neck and on his side and his fingers and toes are webbed. He also has the very tell-tale fins on the sides of his face coming off of his jawbone.
Personality: Eridan is very cocky, he knows what he wants and he will do anything to get it for himself. As the Prince of Hope he sees that he has all the right to say when Hope is gone. He is very emotional and he lets his emotions show, especially anger and despair, which are quite a bit more frequent than other emotions for Eridan.
He is constantly looking for someone who will love him, or even someone who will hate him; his desperation turns a lot of people away though and because of this he finds himself very lonely a lot of the time. When he is looking for people to get with in any way shape or form, he is not picky. He will go for man or woman, human or troll, if they look goof that is just a bonus to Eridan.
He has never been a fan of magic public, in fact he is very vocal about his hate for magic. He is one of the few princes who will ban a Mage or a Witch for just showing any sort of magical power. This is because he himself does not have these powers. He wants nothing more than to be magical like witches and mages but he knows it will never happen, so he takes out his jealousy by banishing them.
Biography: He was named Prince at a very difficult time in Alternia. When he came into power the entire country was at war with a country across the Blood Sea. The Dersians. This war has thrown his entire kingdom into a recession and he doesn’t know how to fix it himself. He is very young and he is not strong enough or smart enough to be able to figure this stuff out by himself. He had been told that he has to get on the good side of the Prince of Earth to get more forces for the war and money so they can get their economy stable again.
Eridan is not good at talking in front of people but he has a very strong presence, as many royal blooded trolls do. He can be a real softy at times, especially when it comes to those who are younger than him because his parents were never in the picture. At times he likes to pretend he is like a father to his entire kingdom, though never in public.
He is always one to assert his authority and show off what he has and he will not let others walk over him. This has always been the way he was, ever since he was named the Prince of Hope when he was very young.
